Goldie Hawn 'Pushed Off Balance' by Paparazzi, Not Drunk

Goldie Hawn has been slammed by the press for appearing drunk and disheveled after a night out in London last week.

The 66-year-old actress left a party at Annabel's Members Club at 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning after the fundraising event for her charity, The Hawn Foundation. Upon leaving, Hawn had trouble standing and needed help getting into the back seat of a car.

According to an insider who attended the party, Hawn was sober when she left.

"There are paparazzi pictures of her looking great and fab while walking out of the party," the source told RumorFix.com. "She was so nice when she left the party saying hello and being polite to the photographers, and was not acting intoxicated at all."

The insider claims that the photographs of Hawn did not depict reality, and the images are the source of rumors of Hawn's drunkenness.

"As you know the Brit paps are a little unscrupulous and pushy and there were a ton of them," explained the source. "They were pushing and blinding everyone with their flash. Goldie was getting into the back seat of the car and when entering she was pushed and she was off balance and fell into the car."

Continuing to clear the rumors, the source noted, "Anyone knows trying to get up with a long dress is difficult, and with trying to get the other passengers in, and with all the flashes, it was just totally hectic."

Hawn was also joined at the party by her daughter, Kate Hudson, and Hudson's fiancee, Mark Bellamy.

"It is sad the way the British press does this," Hawn's defender added. "How they push an older woman into a car and then take pictures and say she is drunk."

The "Private Benajmin" star is currently promoting her self-help book entitled "10 Mindful Minutes," which offers advice on building "the social and emotional skills to reduce stress and anxiety for healthier, happy lives."
