Google Glass Specifications Released: 5MP Camera Revealed
The Google Glass specifications were revealed this week, informing those interested in the new technology about some of its essential features.
The hardware will have a "one size fits all" frame with adjustable nose pads which will come in two sizes customized for the user's comfort. The report also described the experience of looking at the Glass screen, which will feel like the user is viewing a 25-inch display that is situated around 8 feet away.
Other specs to be included on Google Glass are a 5-megapixel camera capable of shooting pictures and capturing video in 720p. Storage on the device will be directly synced with Google cloud and it will feature 16GB internal memory out of the box.
Google Glass also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and can connect to any phone that has Bluetooth and the right requirements or profile for it to work. Other features are also present on the product including GPS and messaging and can be connected to an Android phone with the use of the MyGlass app.
Battery life on Google Glass is expected to last for at least one day with normal usage.
Google hopes to bring more jobs to the U.S. with Google Glass.
Google will produce the product in the country initially to ensure that the units will be perfectly built, according to a report from The Financial Times.
The company's decision will lead to higher manufacturing costs and lower profits overall. Reports of Google Glass being produced stateside began surfacing last week. The device will be mostly manufactured in Santa Clara, Calif. and will be handled by Foxconn, according to an earlier report.
The California factory will produce around a "few thousand" Google Glass units "in the coming weeks." Google is choosing to manufacture the device stateside in order to have better control over the complex and small scale operation. Google also hopes to set a "high profile example" of bringing manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. Google will allow its engineers to be closely involved with the production process and provide more opportunities for last-minute fixes and for personal customization.
