Google Nexus 6 Release Date: October or November 2014, Motorola at the Helm This Time?
The Google Nexus 6 is the next line in Google's line of affordable flagship phones that comes with a pure version of Android for that authentic Android experience. The previous phone, the Nexus 5, was released November of 2013 and if the habit of yearly releases is followed, the Nexus 6 could also be getting a November release, October if it's any earlier.
The Nexus 6 could also be the first in the line to be run by the next version of Google's operating system, the Android L (or Android 5.0), which was announced at the Google I/O earlier this year.
LG has manufactured the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5 for Google and it wouldn't be surprising if they came back for a third run at Google's next smartphone but LG has denied any involvement in the creation of the next Nexus device. There are now speculations that Motorola will be doing the next Nexus phone, with reports of a phone codenamed "Shamu" that's circulating around the net.
Initially, the Nexus 6 was rumored for a design that's similar to LG's G3 flagship but since LG has denied its involvement with Google, the G3 similarity is unlikely. If it's Motorola, the "Shamu" smartphone is looking to get a sizeable 5.9-inch display. This would place the Nexus 6 as a phablet unless a more convenient size is released by Motorola.
There are various other rumors such as the phone getting a 5.9-inch display with a 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution screen. Another leak sees a 5.2-inch phone with the same QHD display - smaller but looking to be more believable than the 5.9-inch one.
