Google Nexus 7 Back in Stock in Google Play (16GB)

The Google Nexus 7 tablet 16GB version is now back in stock in the Google Play store. The company reportedly ran out of that particular model last week and posted that it was out of stock, but customers who can't wait to get their hands on the device will be delighted that it has been restocked so quickly.

However, it seems that Google and Asus have ramped up production on the 16GB model in order to fulfill the demand for the device.

The 16GB version retails at $249, while the 8GB version sells for $199. Surprisingly enough, the more expensive model seems to be selling out quicker.

The Google Nexus 7 quickly become the hottest electronic of the summer, selling out extremely fast in many retail outlets. Google started shipping the device last month and multiple retailers reported that they sold out of it really fast and needed to restock. GameStop even needed to pull the tablet from its website.

The company was able to fulfill some of its Nexus 7 orders for customers who agreed to pick it up at one of its retail locations. It is now offering more orders on the device that are expected to be filled on August 7.

The tablet also received its first over-the-air update last month, bumping its software build up to Android 4.1.1.

However, it brings no major changes to the user experience. The only differences can be found in the "About" screen where some extra information has been added.

The update is around 1MB and can be performed in a matter of seconds.

"This software update will upgrade your Nexus 7 to Android 4.1.1, JellyBean, which improves performance and responsiveness system wide," read Google's message on the update screen for the Nexus 7 tablet.

The update is also meant to improve Google Now speed for fetching information from the internet.
