Google Nexus Prime Release Date: Price and Specs Leaked
Samsung and Google’s first Ice Cream Sandwich powered handset, the Samsung Nexus Prime, is set to be unveiled on Wednesday at “Samsung Mobile Unpacked: Google Episode” event, in Hong Kong. Price, date of release and spec list were revealed.
The Google Nexus Prime was rumored to feature a 4.6 inch HD Super AMOLED Plus display, dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, LTE connectivity, NFC, 5MP or 8MP Camera, 1080 video recording and the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.
Ice Cream Sandwich will be Google’s first operating system to run on both tablets and phones. Google co-founder Larry Page has declared he was excited about the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich launch:
“You won’t believe what we manage to get done in this release,” Page said according to Mobile Magazine.
Google is reportedly trying to make Android as simple to use as Apple’s iPad and iPhone. It is believed that analysts and critics are focusing on user experience and apps, rather than on sales figures.
According to financial figures of Google announced last week, over 190 million Android devices have sold around the world.
The minimum price for the Nexus Prime or Samsung Galaxy Nexus, according to Engadget reports will be $299.99 for a two year-contract. It also is speculated the smartphone may be released any time after Nov. 10, but probably won’t release until a few weeks after advertising is scheduled to begin.
The phone has had a number of pseudonyms since anticipation of its release began, including the Samsung Nexus Prime, the Google Nexus Prime, the Samsung Droid Prime and the Google Nexus 3.
The Galaxy Nexus is set to be unveiled on Oct. 19 at Samsung and Google’s joint media event, at S221 Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, in Hong Kong.
