Google Pixel 2 Release Date News: Google Confirms Oct. 4 Unveiling Event

In a newly-launched page, it is safe to say that Google has already confirmed that the Google Pixel 2 will be presented on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Under the madeby.google.com website, the company launched a new landing page that directly asked people, "Thinking about changing phones?"

The cryptic question was followed by another message: "Stay tuned for more on October 4." On the same page, those who want to get the latest update about the event – that is more likely about the Pixel 2 smartphones – can register their email address.

Interestingly, the Oct. 4 event comes exactly a year after Google announced the first generation of Pixel smartphones alongside new hardware products such as the Google Home AI-powered speaker and Google VR headset powered by Daydream.

A day before the mentioned landing page went live, reports spotted a Google billboard up in Boston that only said: "Ask more of your phone." At the lower portion of the sign is the Google logo and the date Oct. 4.

Meanwhile, Google Pixel fans who have been following latest updates on the next smartphone lineup will recall that there have been previous reports that stated the device will be launched on Oct. 5. It spread quickly since the information came from notable mobile reporter and leaker, Evan Blass.

However, aside from the launch date, there have been several conflicting reports as well concerning Google Pixel 2's processing chip.

Fudzilla was the first to report that an internal source claimed the Google Pixel 2 would debut with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 836. Then, a leaked document filed with the Federal Communications Commission indicated otherwise and said the Google Pixel 2 would run with Snapdragon 835.

Then, in the earlier mentioned report from Blass, the rumor involving the Snapdragon 836 was reiterated. But it was again disclaimed by another report that said Qualcomm was not even gearing up to introduce the Snapdragon 836 anytime this year.

Meanwhile, shortly before Google confirmed the Oct. 4 event, another batch of FCC filings related to the Google Pixel 2 were spotted. However, the documents did not reveal much except that LG was this year's official manufacturer of the upcoming smartphones.
