Google's 7-Inch Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet to be $149
New information has surfaced regarding Google's 7-inch tablet that is reportedly being built by Asustek stating that the device will retail at $149, according to Android and Me.
The site claims it received the information from a "senior employee at a supply chain company" in the United States.
A rumor of an Asustek built quad-core tablet surfaced earlier this month. This device is said to be marketed as an official Google device and could end up being labeled a "Nexus tablet." It is also rumored to be featuring the company's latest operating software Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.

Asustek had revealed the MeMo 370T at this year's Consumer Electronics show that took place in Las Vegas. But according to this new report, that device has been scrapped so that the company can focus more on this "Nexus tablet" for Google.
Earlier reports stated that the device would be priced between $249-199. But the new report says that the target price would be to get it in between $149-$199. The only information that can be confirmed at this time is that it will have a 7-inch display. The quad-core Tegra 3 processor rumored to be included in the tablet is now up in the air.
CNET's Brooke Crothers also weighed in on the Google tablet stating that it will definitely be released sometime this year and its display would not exceed 7-inches making it a valid competitor for the Amazon Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble Nook.
Search analyst Richard Shim told Crothers that Google will produce between 1.5 million and 2 million units of this device starting this spring.
The tablet market is currently dominated by the high-end iPad created by Apple. However, Amazon seems to have found a niche in the market by offering a reasonably priced lower end tablet. Google seems to be planning to attack the low end sector with this Nexus device.
