GoPro 5 Rumor: Upcoming Device To Boast Of A Smaller Battery With Longer Life
GoPro CEO Nick Woodman has said in its Q4 2015 earnings conference call that the company will release its GoPro Hero 5 within the year. As reported by CNET, in the conference call, Woodman said that apart from keeping the current lineup of Hero4 Black, Silver, and Session, fans of the brand can look forward to the introduction of the anticipated Hero5 after its upcoming drone, Karma, finally hits the shelves within the first half of the year.
Since the brand's current top-of-the-line camera models, Hero4 Black and Hero4 Silver, were made available to the public in September 2014, GoPro hasn't had an updated version of the said models. This baffled some fans as its Hero3 cameras were followed by "plus" versions a year after they were released in the market. Instead, GoPro spent much of 2015 releasing its lower end models, which includes the Hero4 Session. The company later on reduced the Hero4 Session's price tag by $200 just to make it more marketable.
According to CNET, Woodman said that the Hero5 will be the "most connected and convenient" product that the company will ever release since its hardware will make it easy for users to connect it to a smartphone or a cloud.
With GoPro promising that an easier editing software is scheduled to be dropped in the market this March, CNET believes that improved convenience and simplicity may even come earlier than the arrival of the Hero5.
CNET also revealed some rumors that might turn out to be true, after all, once the Hero5 is out in the market. Among the buzz going around, one of the most persistent is that the upcoming device will come with a smaller battery, which, despite its size, can actually yield longer life. It is also alleged that it will carry a price tag between $450 and S550. As far as the form is concerned, the Hero5 will take on Hero4 Session's cube design, although it is very likely that its size will be different from that of its predecessor.
Meanwhile, Inquisitr reported that with the release of Karma, competing with the leading drone manufacturer, DJI, will be inevitable. The article added that there are speculations that Hero5 and Karma will be released on the same date so that they can be packaged as a bundle and have the upper hand in the market.
While the above rumors may sound interesting for those anticipating the release of Hero5, they will only remain as such until the device is finally released in the market.
