GoPro Hero 5 to Be Smaller and Lighter, Compatible with Drones
GoPro Hero 5 creators have decided to make the camera smaller and lighter than its predecessors, and add drone compatibility to the device.
It can be remembered that the action camera maker pushed back the release date of the GoPro Hero 5 because of new modifications. The creators announced that they want to make the latest camera stand out from its competitors in terms of technology, innovation, and design, according to Crossmap.
The GoPro Hero 5 was rumored to be slated for an October 2015 launch, but the company obviously is planning to release it on a later date. The firm had to deal with technical glitches in the device and add more features that will help it compete better with its rivals, Blorge reports.
A report by Tech News Today said GoPro is planning to make its future devices smaller and more lightweight. The firm is targeting a size that is almost half of the Hero 4, the report details.
Resource Mag Online suggests that GoPro could make the Hero 5 less than 0.55 pounds. This will help the Hero 5 comply with FAA regulations, the report explains.
Rumor has it that the makers of GoPro Hero 5 are adding drone compatibility to the device, thus the postponed release date. If the rumors prove to be true, the upcoming camera can be used on air, land, and even underwater up to 60 meters.
GoPro has its own version of a drone called the GoPro Karma, which comes with a price tag of at least $5,000. This device works just like other regular drones, and it can be useful in creating movie and recording wedding and musical events.
The price of the Hero 5 is also expected to be low, but GoPro has not yet released a comment on this report.
As of now, the exact release date of the GoPro Hero 5 is yet to be announced. More details on the specs and features of the new model of the action camera are expected to surface next year.
