Gospel Music Channel Tops Popular Family-Friendly Cable Networks

Leading media industry analyst Jack Myers released a new consumer study the Myers Study on the Emotional Connections of Audience to Media revealing Gospel Music Channel as a popular new and emerging network.
The study polled television viewers on their emotional connections with 100 TV networks and 1,135 TV programs.
"Among 50 mid-sized and emerging networks, Gospel Music Channel ranks first for the emotional connection it has with its viewers, based on seven measures of viewers' engagement with programming, attentiveness to advertising, and comfort viewing with families," said Myers in a released statement.
Myers went further to say, "Topping the 'A' list, with 81 percent of the 4,000 respondents rating it favorably, was the new Gospel Music Channel, followed closely by National Geographic Channel and Scripps' Do-it-Yourself. Gospel Music Channel was especially well perceived by females 25 to 54 "
Launched last October, Gospel Music Channel currently reaches 3.5 million subscribers in 61 markets and 350 cities. Subscription growth is projected to reach the ten-million threshold soon.
"Since the inception of Gospel Music Channel, we have set out to offer viewers high-quality, entertaining programming for every member of the family," said Charley Humbard, who founded the music television network with fellow cable industry veteran Brad Siegel. "The Myers study confirms that we're hitting the right note with viewers, which is especially exciting at a time when cable providers are making decisions about bundling many different types of programming channels that parents can feel good about all members of the family viewing. Gospel Music Channel is the only music television network that could pass the test of a family-safe tier."
Major Cable networks are considering offering customers a special "family tier" as more people raise concerns over the violent and sexual content increasingly shown on television.
After a warning issued by the Federal Communications Commission, Comcast and Time Warner, USA's top two cable operators and serving 33 million subscribers, may include 30 to 40 family-friendly channels.
