GospelMusicChannel.com Names Top 10 Albums of 2008

GospelMusicChannel.com, a leader among gospel and Christian music web sites, has announced its Top Ten Best Albums of 2008 and is collecting votes to see how they rank within the Christian community.

"With all the challenges facing the Gospel music industry, it's always such an encouragement – such a labor of love – to look back over the year of the music itself and rediscover what makes Gospel music and all its sub-genres so rich," says Melissa Riddle, senior content strategist for GospelMusicChannel.com.

"From familiar artists like Mary Mary to virtual unknowns like Josh Wilson, the artistry represented here has never been more relevant. GospelMusicChannel.com's Top Ten Best Albums of 2008 represents the diversity and depth that is Gospel/Christian music, and after much deliberation and passionate discussion, we couldn't be more excited to share what we consider to be the 'cream of this year's crop.'"

Released Wednesday, the list was compiled by the senior music editors and staff at GospelMusicChannel.com, along with input from the staff at Gospel Music Channel.

"By no means is this a comprehensive list of the many brilliantly executed, well-performed or talked-about Gospel and Christian projects of the year – such a collection would be a mile longer than the holiday traffic jam you've been sitting in," they reported.

"But we've certainly put a lot of brain power and spin-time into identifying what we believe to be 10 of the stand-out releases this year."

GospelMusicChannel.com also heralded 10 "Honorable Mention" projects as standouts for 2008, while still acknowledging that the list "doesn't begin to cover it."

"We could easily populate four lists – one for rock, pop, country and soul – with at least ten albums each," the staff reported, "but even that would be just the beginning."

Now that the list has been compiled, the staff at GospelMusicChannel.com is taking their list to the Christian community, encouraging music fans to vote for their favorite among the Top 10 or for their own write-in pick.

Those who vote are entered to win a complete CD package – the GospelMusicChannel.com Best Albums Prize Pack, which contains the entire Top Ten CD collection.
