'Gotham City Sirens' Cast News, Plot Rumors: Black Mask To Be Film's Villain?; Haley Bennett Rumored to Play Catwoman

Upcoming DC film "Gotham City Sirens" is getting a lot of buzz lately thanks to what looks to be a tease from director David Ayer. Rumor has it that the film's villain will be Roman Sionis, aka Black Mask.

According to comingsoon.net, Ayer recently took to his Twitter handle to post a photo of Black Mask from the comic "Batman: Under the Red Hood." The director did not caption the photo, which resulted in fans speculating that the villain will appear in the Margot Robbie-led "Gotham City Sirens."

For those who are unaware, "Gotham City Sirens" is an upcoming film that will feature a handful of female villains. Robbie is set to reprise her role as Harley Quinn, which she originally gave life to in the recent Academy Award-winning movie "Suicide Squad."

Black Mask, whose real name is Roman Sionis, happens to be a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne, aka Batman. Sionis was a child of neglectful and uncaring parents who were more concerned about their reputation than anything else. As a result, Sionis killed them. He also held a grudge against Bruce after the latter offered to save Sionis' failed business. Sionis then became Black Mask, an infamous crime lord.

Apart from Robbie, no other name has been cast to play parts in the film. However, there have been rumors that Haley Bennett will take on the role of Catwoman, aka Selina Kyle. These rumors mainly stem from an Instagram post Bennett shared a month ago. She shared a photo of Catwoman without any explanation, and followed it up with a photo of herself with a pixie cut that Selina sports.

There has also been some talk of Megan Fox joining the ensemble as Poison Ivy. However, it is important to remember that these have not yet been confirmed so readers are advised to take this news with a grain of salt.

"Gotham City Sirens" is set for a 2018 release.
