'Gotham' News: Robin's Family Could Be Introduced This Season, Episode 9 Plot Revealed

Each new episode of "Gotham" seems to feature a budding Batman villain as fans of the show have already met the younger versions of Penguin, Catwoman, the Riddler, and Poison Ivy. Now, it looks like one of Batman's future allies might be featured in an upcoming episode this season as Ben Mackenzie, who plays Detective Jim Gordon on the show, spoke about a new character being introduced soon.

"The Graysons may appear this season. I'm not 100 percent sure yet, but I think so," Mackenzie told The Daily Beast.

In Batman canon, Dick Grayson is part of the Flying Graysons, a family of acrobats. As a child, Dick watches his parents fall to their deaths after having their trapeze wires were tampered with by local gangsters. Bruce Wayne takes him under his wing, mentors him and eventually he takes the title of Robin and later on he gets to capture the mob boss who caused his parents' death.

If the Graysons do make an appearance on a future episode of the show, Screenrant speculates that either Robin is still a baby as he is younger than Bruce, or it's possible that he hasn't been born yet. The website reports that the episode could likely center around a circus-related crime, but not the death of Robin's parents.

Meanwhile, this week's episode titled "The Mask" sees Gordon and Bullock investigate a mysterious murder, which leads them to Richard Sionis, the head of investment firms Sionis Investments. The case reveals the existence of an underground and very deadly sport. Gordon finds himself in the game, and Bullock tries to get help from some of their co-workers.

Next week's episode titled "Harvey Dent" has the following premise.

"Harvey Dent encourages Gordon to team up with Mayor James in an attempt to close the Wayne murder case. Meanwhile, Penguin makes contact with Mooney's secret weapon," the synopsis reads.

"Gotham" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on FOX.
