'Gotham' season 2 cast news: David Mazouz discusses character

The second season of "Gotham" will introduce a new side of Bruce Wayne. It was reported that David Mazouz's character Bruce Wayne will be transforming into his potential in the upcoming season. As he continues his search for the murderer of his parents, he will slowly become the Dark Knight he was destined to be.

Mazouz shared, "He's on a mission and he really is going to start his dual personality into being Batman. When he's Batman, there is his Batman side, and then his public persona, which is his playboy/party boy persona. In season two, he's really going to start developing that second persona and he's gonna start having that and developing that without fear. I think it's really cool."

In addition, the series will be featuring a new villain named Firefly. The character will be played by Michelle Veintimilla, who was described by TVLine as someone who was enslaved by her brothers from a gang. Firefly is also known as Bridgit Pike, who will be partnered up with Selina Kyle, also known as Cat Woman. With them together, Firefly will develop her skills in fire, transforming her into a super villain. She is expected to appear on the fifth and sixth episodes of the season.

The series' portrayal will be different from the way Firefly is perceived in the comics. Firefly is originally a male character in the DC comics. He is very knowledgeable in pyrotechnics and explosives. His suit allows him to fly and is equipped with several weapons such as a flamethrower and grenade launcher. Nevertheless, she will be joined by Penguin, Joker, Riddler, and Tigress as she causes trouble in the city. Executive producer Bruno Heller explained during the San Diego Comic-Con that the upcoming season will see the rise of villains. With that, the city will turn to chaos.

Gotham season 2 is expected to premiere on Sept. 21.
