'Gotham' Season 2 Spoilers, Cast Rumors: Penguin's Dad To Show Up 'Very Soon'; Cobblepot to Tie Up With Nygma?
Just as Fox's hit crime-fighting drama TV series "Gotham" Season 2 keeps getting better by the week, a new casting update indicates the coming of Penguin's father. Meanwhile, a recent interview reveals that a tie-up between the titular city's self-proclaimed king and Edward Nygma could happen anytime soon in this season.
Citing the details from LATimes.com, cast member Robin Lord Taylor announced during the show's panel at the New York Comic Con this weekend that veteran actor Paul Reubens is joining the Batman prequel series as Penguin's father.
"We don't know a lot about [Oswald's] father," the 37-year-old actor was quoted as saying (via LATimes)."We just found out that I do have a father."
As divulged further by Taylor, Reubens, who was known for his role as Pee-wee Herman, will show up "very soon" in "Gotham." The Hollywood Reporter added that this won't be a one-time appearance for the 63-year-old as he was signed up for a recurring stint.
For those who may not know it, this won't be the first time for the game show host to take up the role. In fact, he had previously played Penguin's father in Tim Burton's 1992 film, "Batman Returns." His character back then was named Tucker Cobblepot. It remains to be seen if the Fox scripted program will give him the same name despite the artistic leeway given to the latest DC TV series.
Meanwhile, a recent interview with Taylor, this time with ComicBook.com (via VineReport.com), revealed the possibility of a Penguin-The Riddler team up. Although the two interesting characters have met before in season 1, an alliance between the two is something that a lot of fans have been looking forward to.
"I think I can also say that Nygma and Penguin will come back together in some major ways this season, and it's really exciting," Taylor told CB.
Don't miss the suspense and action of "Gotham" Season 2 airing Mondays at 9 on Fox.
