'Gotham' Season 2 Spoilers: Azrael brings Terror
The most recent teaser for the upcoming episode of "Gotham" Season 2 gave fans a first look at the new villain of the series.
FOX recently released a trailer for the upcoming episode of "Gotham," which revealed the iconic DC villain, Azrael. Avid comic book fans are aware that Azrael is not actually a pure villain. The comics depicted him as an ancient warrior who eventually worked with Batman. He was seen taking on Batman's crime fighting responsibilities after Batman was paralyzed.
TV Overmind reported that the executive producer of the series John Stephens recently shared details what Azrael's arrival will be like. He said, "We're going to give him an origin backstory to Azrael when he comes in. While it will have the hallmarks of Azrael as we know him from the comic books, there's going to be a twist to him that will make him different."
The character of Azrael will be played by James Frain, who played Theo Galavan in the series. However, Theo Galavan was previously seen getting shot by Gordon. With that, it was revealed that he will return transformed into Azrael, which means that he will be more powerful this time around.
Stephens also explained that the upcoming episodes should soon introduce another character. During a past interview with TV Overmind, Stephen spoke about Mr. Freeze's introduction. He said, "I think the way Nathan does the role and the way it's written, everyone, I hope, will see the action that he takes very, very relatable and his descendent into villain, something almost like a heroic fall, so that when he actually does become the true Mr. Freeze, we'll all understand why he became that. I think he is going to be a very tragic character."
"Gotham" Season 2 airs on FOX every Monday nights.
