'Gotham' Season 2 Spoilers: Mr. Freeze and Other Villains at Gotham
After the shocking fall finale of "Gotham" season 2, it was revealed that more excitement will follow when the series returns next year.
It was revealed that a new villain will be making his way into the city. The midseason premiere of "Gotham" season 2 will introduce Mr. Freeze, also known as Victor Fries. The recent teaser for the upcoming episodes hinted the character's presence in the second half of the season.
In the promotional video, Ben McKenzie's character Jim was heard in a voice-over. He said, "Bad guys in this town are changing. They are not playing by the old rules. I don't know how bad it's going to get. I'll face whatever is coming to me."
After his voice-over, the Gotham logo was revealed along with icicles. The character of Dr. Freeze is notorious for his icy crimes, which are done with the help of his freeze gun. This means that Jim will soon be dealing with the many antics of Dr. Freeze
The creator of the series, Bruno Heller, also shared some details about the character during an interview with TV Line. Heller explained, "We're telling the Freeze story in classic style, from its origins. What you saw there is the "beta test." It's very early on in the story of Mr. Freeze."
However, it was confirmed that he will not be the only villain present in season 2. Dr. Strange is also expected to enter the story. The villain is known for his inhumane experiments, which were touched upon earlier in the season. With that, the story will continue to delve deeper into his doings.
Even with the many villains expected to make appearances in the upcoming season, fans are also hoping to see The Joker return to Gotham. There are speculations that the character, played by Cameron Monaghan, could be one of Dr. Strange's experiments in his lab.
"Gotham" season 2 is expected to return on Feb. 29, 2016.
