'Gotham' Season 3B: Is Bruce Ready to Become Batman?
Bruce Wayne's (David Mazouz) transformation as Batman will not be happening in the upcoming second half of the current season of "Gotham."
Previously, Mazouz told Collider that he does not see his character morphing into the Dark Knight soon in the series. According to him, Batman will not start to appear until it is necessary. At the moment, Gotham City is doing well without the iconic superhero. The Gotham City Police Department and Jim (Ben McKenzie) still manage to uphold peace and order, even if there are adversaries who try to instigate chaos. Mazouz said the city would have to be in a dire situation before Batman arrives.
In a recent interview with CBR, the actor once again maintained that Bruce is far from being Batman. He needs more time to grow, mentally and emotionally, and he is still way too young. Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee), his loyal friend and butler, is in charge of his training. Before the break, viewers saw Bruce learning martial arts from him. While the young Wayne is busy with his preparation, Mazouz mentioned that his character would also rely on Jim.
Jim promised Bruce that he would help him find his parents' murderer. If there is one person the young man trusts, aside from Alfred, it will have to be the detective. Bruce actually believes that Jim is meant to save Gotham. Later on, he will realize that what his city needs is not Jim.
"Bruce believes Jim can be the man who can save Gotham, who can be the man who can restore it to its original beauty. The relationship is so important because eventually Bruce will realize that Jim fails because he's a man. He's not a symbol. Gotham needs a symbol. Gotham needs the Bat. That's why that relationship is so important. Bruce wants Jim to succeed, but, eventually, he doesn't. Bruce needs to then take it upon himself," Mazouz said, according to CBR.
"Gotham" season 3 will return on Monday, April 24, at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
