Grammys to Pay Tribute to Whitney Houston: LL Cool J, Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson
In light of the sudden announcement of Whitney Houston's passing away Saturday afternoon, the Grammy Awards immediately decided to pay tribute to the artist. Sunday night saw many acts mentioning the singer in the midst of their performances, and Jennifer Hudson plans to pay an entire tribute performance in memory of the "I will always love you" singer.
Whitney Houston was found dead in a Beverly Hills hotel room Saturday. Since the announcement the music industry has decided to honor what it considers one of its biggest stars. "We've had a death in our family," said host LL Cool J. He then opened with a prayer asking God to take care for the singer and her family. After the prayer, a video of Whitney Houston singing "I Will Always Love You" at a prior Grammy Awards also honored the singer.
Music artists also honored Houston by dedicating their songs. Rihanna sang, "Make some noise for Whitney," in the middle of her song "We Found Love."

Jennifer Hudson has planned a tribute performance on short notice. Although Grammy show producer Ken Ehrlich announced that there would be no time to plan a full tribute, Hudson will still make a small and fitting tribute.
"I am absolutely heartbroken at the news of Whitney's passing... She was a true original and a talent beyond compare. I will miss her terribly," Clive Davis said in a statement to the media at the annual pre-Grammy Awards party.
Stars have also taken to Twitter to announce their sorrow for the passing of Houston. "My heart is broken.... #rip Whitney Houston," actress Eva Longoria wrote.
"You taught me so much good.... miss you angel." Adam Shankman, who directed the singer's I'm Your Baby Tonight video, added.
Fans and artists alike will be in great anticipation of the tribute that will honor one who the music industry is already missing.
