'Grand Theft Auto 6' Release Date and News: GTA 6 Set to Come Out in 2018; Cause of Delay Revealed?
One of the most successful action adventure and crime video games franchises of all time is undoubtedly the "Grand Theft Auto" series. With the "GTA 5" released way back in 2013, fans have been voicing out their clamor for the new "Grand Theft Auto 6."
Entire Franchise Cancelled?
The "Grand Theft Auto 6" has been highly anticipated for so long now. Avid fans of the franchise were dismayed not to hear from the game's publisher, Rockstar Games, during PlayStation's 2016 meeting. There was not even a single representative from the company present during the said event.
The disappointment comes from multiple rumors suggesting that Rockstar would be making a surprise announcement at the PlayStation meeting, which clearly did not happen. However, after the company's non-appearance at the event, there were rumors that Rockstar would be discontinuing "Grand Theft Auto 6" and ultimately, the entire franchise as well.
Rockstar Needs More Time
Evidently, Rockstar has been having quite a busy schedule, and so far, the future of the company seems pretty preoccupied as well. The "Grand Theft Auto 5" is still set for some updates and additional content in the future. There have also been other endeavors in other titles under the company's helm such as the "Red Dead Redemption" franchise.
Rockstar had assured though that the development of "Grand Theft Auto 6" will see action, and it will certainly not be axing the franchise anytime soon. With the introduction of more advanced gaming consoles such as the PlayStation 4 Pro and the upcoming Microsoft Project Scorpio, Rockstar wanted to make sure that "Grand Theft Auto 6" will deliver in the best possible ways.
There are also new technologies that the "Grand Theft Auto 6" has to be ready for. This includes the PlayStation VR, other virtual reality mechanisms, and the more far-off augmented reality. This urged Rockstar to put off development of "Grand Theft Auto 6" for a while, as they wait for their game to catch up to the numerous new technologies. For now, all the company is asking for is a little more waiting time to finally perfect the game before its release.
Possible Release Date
Although nothing is official yet with the "Grand Theft Auto 6," some fans have stated that Rockstar should be announcing the new title now. Experts, however, believe that the game will be officially released sometime in the late 2017 or early 2018. This is the most reliable prediction so far as Rockstar has adopted a 4 to 5-year timeline between its games' releases.
Following this release pattern, eager fans could get their hands on "Grand Theft Auto 6" in the time frame predicted by the experts. There are also speculations that Rockstar could release the game at next year's E3 conference, although this should be taken with a grain of salt.
