'Grand Theft Auto' movie to feature Harry Potter star
One of the most popular video games, "Grand Theft Auto," is reportedly expecting a movie with a popular British actor.
It was reported that the Grand Theft Auto franchise is working with BBC to create a film based on the video game. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Daniel Radcliffe from the "Harry Potter" franchise has been offered a role in the film. Radcliffe is well known for the movie adaptations of J.K. Rowling's novels. His character is expected to be Sam Houser, one of the co-creators of the video game.
Sam and Dan Houser released the first installment of Grand Theft Auto back in 1997. The game served as a controversy when attorney Jack Thompson planned to ban the game for allowing sex and rape to be seen in media. Grand Theft Auto allowed users take on characters who they can control. They have the liberty to perform wild actions in his city.

Thompson began to campaign against the video calling it "murder simulators" and argued that it led to the bountiful homicide cases regarding young criminals. However, he was disbarred. With that, the movie is expected to center around the story of the Houser brothers battling against Thompson. The script will be written by James Wood, using David Kushner's book called "Jack: The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto" as the basis.
Grand Theft Auto movie is expected to explore themes concerning the misrepresentations of cultures and ethnicities. The film will be directed by Owen Harris, who has been involved in projects such as "Misfits" and "Black Mirror." Jim Spencer and Mark Hedgecoe will be working together to produce to movie.
While the production is expected to begin on Apr. 20, there has yet to be a release on the other cast members. In addition, no release date has been revealed regarding the film.
