Grandmother Beaten at Chuck E. Cheese
A grandmother was assaulted over the weekend at a Dearborn, Mich. Chuck E. Cheese while celebrating the birthday of her grandson, witnesses said.
The grandmother, whose identity has not been revealed, remains in hospital care after she was assaulted for asking a nearby table to watch their usage of profanity around children.
She was at the restaurant to celebrate the seventh birthday of her grandson.
“Please don’t use that language with children,” she said, according to the victim’s daughter, who described the incident to NewsCore.
According to the victim’s daughter, a man at the table spewed profanities at the grandmother and jumped over the tables at the popular children’s restaurant and game house and began throwing punches.
The grandmother, 50, was taken to a local hospital after the enraged man punched her in the face and began tugging and pulling her hair.
“My mom’s only 5’2 and he punched her in the face, and when I turned around he was dragging her by her hair across the room,” the victim’s daughter told Fox2 News.
The victim’s daughter added that the violent outburst must have been calculated as the man handed over a baby in his arms to lash out on the woman.
“He came around the corner and jumped over tables and just started hitting people,” another witness told the news agency.
“We were trying to protect the kids,” he added.
This is the third time a violent encounter has been reported at the popular children’s restaurant in the Detroit, Mich. area since last June.
The restaurant is famous for being a common location for birthday parties and prides itself on “a safe, wholesome environment with games, food and fun for kids of all ages,” according to the company website.
