'Great Detective Pikachu: Birth Of A New Combination' Arrives As New 3DS Game
Pokémon fans better brace themselves as a new game is here and it's not going to be the usual Pokémon monster fighting game. This time, Pikachu is the main star and this yellow-colored creature is going to be a detective in a Nintendo game titled "Great Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Combination."
According to Design & Trend, the new game arrived a few hours ago on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan. It is expected to be warmly received by fans as there's going to be a twist in the story of the game. Polygon detailed that Pikachu will be going on an adventure with a human partner named Tim. But instead of being a sidekick just like with Ash, Pikachu will be the main hero and the human will be the sidekick.
Aside from that, Pikachu's high-pitched voice and limited talking skills will be taken away. Den of Geek noted that in this game, Pikachu will be able to drink coffee and talk. Not only that, the electrifying rodent will be talking with a "gravelly" voice similar to Takeshi Kitano. Upon learning that Pikachu will be able to talk like a human, the fans began handing out their suggestions on who should do the voiceover the character.
The suggestions greatly varied but one particular name that made its way to the headlines is Hollywood actor Danny DeVito. Game Rant reported that the community campaigned for the actor to do the English voiceover for the Sherlock Holmes-inspired Pikachu and the online petition created has already raised more than 43,000 signatures. But of course, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have the last say in that matter.
It's not known yet whether the game will be made available in other countries but fans outside of Japan are crossing their fingers that it will in the near future. For fans in Japan, "Great Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Combination" is now available on the Nintendo eShop for a discounted price of 1,200 yen. After February 29, it will cost 1500 yen.
