Green Bay Packers Not Ruling Out Joe Mixon
Teams like the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins may be steering clear of Joe Mixon in this year's draft, but it looks like the Green Bay Packers are not ruling out the possibility of selecting the controversial Oklahoma running back.
According to NFL.com's Mike Garafolo, the Packers brought in Mixon for a pre-draft visit last week. The running back was not invited to the league's scouting combine last month because of the National Football League's (NFL) policy banning prospects who have misdemeanor or felony convictions. He was charged with a misdemeanor for assaulting a woman at a bar in 2014.
Since Mixon was not at the combine, teams that are interested in him will have to bring him in for a visit if they want to know more about his personality and medical records.

The Packers interest in Mixon makes a lot of sense. They do have a need at the position. Right now, Christine Michael and Ty Montgomery are the only running backs on their roster after they lost Eddie Lacy to the Seattle Seahawks. Mixon is definitely a talented running back and he should provide depth at the position.
"It makes sense on several levels that the Packers would perform their due diligence on Mixon. On pure talent, he's one of the top running backs in a draft that's rich with possible stars at the position. Mixon rushed for 2,027 yards and 17 touchdowns in his two seasons at Oklahoma," ESPN's Rob Demovsky said in his report.
The Packers have the 29th and 61st overall pick in the draft and they can use either one to select Mixon. Many believe that his draft stock is down due to his issues off the field, but Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman said his draft stock is actually improving.
"Not only is his draft stock improving, but some teams say no player is moving up draft boards faster than Mixon. Apparently he's checking every box as he meets with various franchises," Freeman said.
