'Green Lantern Corps' News and Update: Release Date of DC Superhero Movie Moved
Warner Bros. announced the changes in the showing date of some of the films it is slated to release in the coming years. Among the movies that experienced a change of showing date, it is highly believed that one of which is the upcoming "Green Lantern Corps" movie, although it remains unnamed at this point in time.
The assumed "Green Lantern Corps" movie was originally scheduled for a June 19, 2020 release date. However, with the changes made by Warner Bros., it has now moved down a month later than its first schedule, July 24, 2020, as per Comic Book. Apparently, those anticipating the movie won't really need to wait that long before seeing another live-action feature of the said DC character, whether it's going to be a Hal Jordan or John Stewart Green Lantern.
It can be recalled that the last time Green Lantern was featured in a live-action movie was via the eponymous film that starred "Deadpool" actor Ryan Reynolds. According to Box Office Mojo, the movie failed at the box office, only earning $219,851,172 as its worldwide gross.
As of this writing, there is still no news as to who will play Green Lantern in the said DC and Warner Bros. movie. According to earlier speculations from Cinema Blend, the movie will not only feature one Earth-bound Green Lantern but three.
Another Comic Book report says that actor Tyrese Gibson earlier said that he had already met with Warner Bros. for a possible Green Lantern role. Although there is no confirmation if he has bagged the role or not, it is very likely that he will play the John Stewart Green Lantern as the former is the only known colored Earth-bound Green Lantern. Another human Green Lantern is Kyle Rayner, who replaced Hal Jordan in the comic books after the latter lost his sanity and killed other members of the Green Lantern Corps.
In the 2011 "Green Lantern" movie, Ryan Reynolds played the role of Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. Prior to the showing of the just-pulled out "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," it was speculated that actor Dan Amboyer would play Green Lantern in the movie, as per Movie Pilot. However, the movie just ended without showing even a shadow of Amboyer and his supposed Green Lantern.
