Greg Laurie, Nick Vujicic to Attend Advance Screening of 'Hope for Hurting Hearts'
Ten days ahead of its world premiere screening, "Hope for Hurting Hearts," a movie that tells the story of how Greg and Cathe Laurie, Jeremy Camp, Nick Vujicic, and their families dealt with times of trial, will be shown at Harvest churches in Riverside and Orange County. Pastor Laurie and evangelist Vujicic, who was born without arms and legs, are scheduled to attend the special viewing on Sunday.
Laurie and Harvest Ministries, well-known for evangelistic stadium events held primarily in Southern California, are no strangers to moviemaking. "Lost Boy: The Next Chapter," a story about Laurie's life, is the winner of eight international film festival awards. "Hope for Hurting Hearts" is about how the families dealt with the loss of loved ones, and in Vujicic's case, how he overcame his severe handicap. The movie is about "how they stood at a 'spiritual crossroades' marked by challenging and painful circumstances, and how they chose the road of trusting, following, and glorifying God," states Harvest Ministries.
"Everyone has to deal with crises in life, including Christians. And sometimes, the reality of life can seem unbearable. But we can rest in the knowledge that God loves us, He weeps in our times of pain, and He can be glorified through suffering," the filmmakers said. "You will be encouraged by these intimate accounts, which give a glimpse into God's perspective on suffering, and declare that there truly is Hope for Hurting Hearts."

The Lauries experienced the incredible heartbreak at the unexpected death of their eldest son in 2008. Since then, the couple has been sharing their story of hope in God and eternal life in heaven. After Camp, a Dove Award-winning Christian musician, tragically lost his first wife to cancer, he wrote the hit song, "I Still Believe." Vujicic, president and CEO of Life Without Limbs, is dedicated to sharing his life-changing message of hope found in Christ.
An innovative web-based premiere screening with LifeWay Films is planned for July 10-14. Churches, small groups, and individuals are all invited to participate in this free event. Audience members will be encouraged by these intensely personal and intimate accounts, which give a glimpse into God's perspective on suffering. The film is narrated by Dr. James Dobson.
As Laurie has stated, "if you preach to the hurting, you will never lack an audience." Hope for Hurting Hearts includes a gospel presentation, "allowing people in your congregation or group to reach out to those in your community who are hurting, by inviting them to this free screening at your venue," Harvest said. "And it's more than just a movie; this unique world premiere production also includes free downloadable bonus resources . . . Customizable movie poster and invitation/bulletin insert, the new believer small group study used at Pastor Greg's church, Harvest Christian Fellowship, and more."
On Sunday, a condensed version of the film will be shown at all of Harvest churches' Sunday services. Normally webcast, these services will not be shown live on the Internet.
The full-length film will be shown at 7 p.m. PT. Laurie and Vujicic are scheduled to be at the Harvest church in Riverside.
