'Grey's Anatomy' season 12 news, cast, spoilers: April's Mysterious Disease Will Be Bailey's First Challenge as the New Chief of Surgery
It's going to be a hectic new second episode for "Grey's Anatomy" season 12, as many challenges will be coming the doctors' ways. From a mysterious new disease to new roles, everyone's got their own struggles.
If the trailers are of any indication, the main focus of the latest episode would be April Kepner (Sarah Drew). It seems like she's not only returning with a burden of fixing what could be a broken marriage but also with a mysterious new disease. A second promo video for the upcoming episodes was shared in a report by Wetpaint, it showed Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) seeing widespread rashes on April's back in which she exclaims, "What the hell that? On your back?" and immediately covering her mouth and nose with a surgical mask to avoid any disease that the two might be carrying.
The scene then jumps to Kepner being placed in an isolation bubble to contain whatever unknown disease she might have. Kepner continues to emphasize that it is nothing but a "rash." Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) then responds sternly, "Kepner, you have liaisons, a cough, a fever. You were in the Middle East!" Bailey also emphasizes that an "epidemic" is not what she would want on her first day of being Chief of Surgery, the position given to her during the premiere.
Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) then enters the conversation asking about any updates about his wife. Arizona and Bailey say that anthrax was currently being ruled out, which Avery responds, "Any concerns about MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome)?" Miranda seems confident that they will get to the bottom of Kepner's mysterious new disease, as she proclaims, "This stops with Patient Zero!" before walking away from Kepner who refuses to be called Patient Zero.
Fans have to stay tuned as to how Bailey will deal with the very first major dilemma as a Surgery Chief. Avery doesn't seem too excited about seeing Kepner in general, which is likely a mixture of concern about what Kepner has and anger about her re-enlisting in the army. It is a possibility that whatever Kepner is about to face can help her and Avery overcome in their relationship.
"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursday nights, 8 p.m. on ABC.
