'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 Spoilers, News: Will 'The Sound of Silence' Episode Reveal Meredith-Nathan, Maggie-Andrew Romance?

ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" aired its midseason finale on Nov. 19, leaving fans with at least five different cliffhangers to keep them on their toes until the show returns in February. Episode 8 left fans asking: What's up with Owen and Riggs? Will Maggie be able to keep her relationship with Andrew strictly professional? Will Jackson and April ever fix their marriage? Will Jo say "yes" to Alex? Will Meredith and Amelia be able to patch things up after their big argument? Was that just one drink or will Amelia spiral into a relapse?

In "Things We Lost in the Fire," fans were almost told the story of what happened to Owen's (Kevin McKidd) sister and what role Riggs (Martin Henderson) played in it. Almost, but not quite.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, McKidd revealed that Nathan and Owens's feud is about something big. "All I'll say is it's life and death. It's a life and death thing," the actor said.

Meanwhile, in an interview with TV Line, Henderson spoke about the possibility of a romance with the recently-widowed Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). "Obviously it's a possibility," he admitted. But given that this is "Grey's Anatomy," Henderson added, "It's just as viable that I end up with anyone on the show."

As to whether or not he thinks fans of the show (and of the late Dr. McDreamy) would welcome a Mer-Nathan romance, the actor replied, "At the end of the day, my job is to serve the audience, and I do that by serving Shonda." He continued, "If [a romance] happens, I know there would be some strong feelings, positive and negative."

Another couple to watch out for are Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti). The two have already vowed to keep their relationship platonic, but it appears that they will have difficulty keeping their word. Design & Trend reports that the pair will continue their steamy affair in the next season.

E! News has reported that "The Sound of Silence" will be directed by Oscar winner Denzel Washington, who has previously directed the films "Antwone Fisher" and "The Great Debaters." "The Sound of Silence" marks his television directorial debut.

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 will resume on Feb. 11, 2016 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
