'Grey's Anatomy' season 12 plot news: Owen moves in with someone who is not Amelia

Recent teasers from the 12th season of "Grey's Anatomy" reveal that Owen Hunt will be moving in with someone who might not be Amelia.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes revealed during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that while Owen, played by Kevin McKidd, and Amelia, played by Caterina Scorsone, will remain connected, there is a possibility that Owen will move in with someone else.

With that news, speculations have been made regarding Owen's upcoming roommate. It was said that Owen could possibly move in with Callie, played by Sara Ramirez, or Arizona, played by Jessica Capshaw. There were also speculations that Owen might move in with Jackson, played by Jesse Williams, since he is currently having problems in his relationship with April, played by Sarah Drew.

Actor Scorsone also shared some details regarding her relationship with Owen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she said, "He's out of the wheelhouse that she's comfortable with; he's an adult. He can equal in his tragedy and loss and yet he's persevering in a way that she is. There's a level of respect that she is surprised by."

Furthermore, while she mourns the loss of the brother, Amelia is expected to move in with Meredith, played by Ellen Pompeo, and Maggie, played by Kelly McCreary. The upcoming season will see the three of them become closer as they support each other in different aspects of their lives. However, Rhimes mentioned that they, too, will have challenges, but will still love together.

Rhimes also shared that the upcoming season will bring in a different vibe compared to that in the previous season. She said, "We had a table read last week in which I have never heard the entire room laugh that much — I want to say since season one — the entire room was laughing and everybody broke into applause when we were done reading. It was a nice feeling to be so light again but in a way that didn't feel like we were trying so hard; it felt natural."

Grey's Anatomy season 12 is expected to return on Sept. 24.
