The heartbreak of Alex was caused by Jo breaking up with him. Jo had to go and they could never ever see each other again. This leaves Alex totally heartbroken. Jo and Alex need to go on with their lives in separate ways, though Jo wanted to marry Alex, but just can't. As heartbroken as Alex is at this moment, he had to concede with Jo's decision.
