'Grey's Anatomy' Season 14 Spoilers: Is Meredith Prepared To Be the Other Woman?

Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will have to decide if she is willing to be the other woman in the upcoming season of "Grey's Anatomy."

Executive producer Debbie Allen recently told TV Guide that Meredith will be in a bind in the new installment following the revelation that Owen's (Kevin McKidd) sister Megan (now played by Abigail Spencer) is alive. In last season's finale, a helicopter transported the Hunt sibling to the United States, where she was promptly sent to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Nathan (Martin Henderson) could not believe that his girlfriend was alive and well. He and Meredith could only exchange worried glances. According to Allen, Meredith will have to think about what she really wants when it comes to Nathan.

"They both had a similar experience [losing their partners], but now this experience for Nathan is not even possible for her. Derek is not coming back," Allen said. "She will be re-examining and figuring out what's important in her life and how she will move on emotionally."

If Meredith decides not to let go of Nathan, she will end up as the other woman. Before Megan disappeared, she and the doctor were still together. Viewers are expecting an angsty storyline for the love triangle, especially on Meredith's part.

Meanwhile, the promo (via PEOPLE) shows a familiar face returning to the hospital. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) is back after exiting the show in 2012. Her presence is expected to have a huge effect in the dynamics of her former colleagues. For one, Teddy will finally get to meet Owen's wife, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone).

Before Teddy resigned from her post, she made no secret of the fact that she liked Owen romantically. It will be interesting to see how she will react to him having a wife. Of course, there is the added complication that Owen and Amelia are still not in good terms. They have yet to talk about their plans of having a baby. Will Teddy complicate matters more for the newlyweds?

"Grey's Anatomy" season 14 will premiere on Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
