Grieving Dad Asks Strangers to Photoshop a Picture of His Late Infant Girl - The Results are Astonishing
Nathen Steffel needed help honoring the memory of his infant daughter, Sophia, who had recently died from complications due to a hepatic hemangioma. He turned to Reddit with this request:
"My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children's hospital. Since she was in the hospital her whole life we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?"
Reddit users responded in stunning fashion. A mere two hours later, user tacothecat posted a fabulous first attempt, and then tweaked it to achieve this:
Steffel quickly replied, "Wow that is awesome. I showed my wife and she teared up. Thank you so very much."
And the flood of kindness was just getting started. Redditors poured in their renditions of the picture, including retouched photos, digital paintings and pencil sketches. Here are more of the touching submissions.
Steffel gave BuzzFeed his reaction to the outpouring of support from complete strangers.
"It helped knowing that others cared enough to stop whatever they were doing in their own lives to either send me a picture or just their condolences," he said. "It's just awesome that this story and her pictures have touched so many people."
