'Grumpy Cat' Movie News: Film to Air on Lifetime This Month, Movie Plot Revealed

Lifetime has released the first official trailer for "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever" starring Internet sensation Grumpy Cat, also known as Tardar Sauce to fans.

Grumpy Cat became a viral hit in 2012 after owner Tabatha Bundesen posted a picture of the cat on Reddit. According to Bundesen, the cat's permanently grumpy expression is due to feline dwarfism. The cat's image spawned a lot of memes, and the cat even became a subject of a book, calendar, and was featured in American Idol. Grumpy Cat currently has over 6 million likes on her official Facebook page and was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal and New York magazine last year.

The trailer features Grumpy Cat as a pet-store cat that is always overlooked until a 12-year old girl has her biggest holiday wish come true.

"You really screwed up your big wish," said Grumpy Cat, voiced by "Parks and Recreation" actress Aubrey Plaza. The trailer also hilariously references Lifetime's penchant for producing tearjerkers, as Grumpy Cat says, "Don't get sappy on me. Wait, I forgot— it's a Lifetime movie."

Here is the plot of "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever," according to Cinemablend:

"A curmudgeonous cat lives in a mall pet shop, but becomes increasingly grumpy as customers persistently pass over her for purchase. Finally one day around the holidays, a 12-year old girl named Chrystal walks by ('Mama's Megan Carpenter) and falls in love with Grumpy. They develop a unique friendship when it's discovered that Chrystal is the only person who can hear the cat talk, but the duo somehow get involved in the dognapping of an expensive pooch and Chrystal inevitably gets herself trapped in the mall after closing hours," the synopsis reads.

"Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever" airs on Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.
