'GTA Online' Festive Update Is Live: Bad Santa, New Masks, Festive Pajamas, and More

The annual festive update for "Grand Theft Auto Online" is now live. The new update includes new masks, festive clothes, and more.

In a post at its official site, Rockstar Games announced the holiday-themed update for the city of Los Santos. This year's festive update will include brand-new seasonally appropriate clothes and accessories, as well as items from the previous years.

This year's festive update includes the following new items:

  • New Santa outfits and a new collection of snug pajamas
  • Masks featuring Mr. and Mrs. Claus, Bad Elf, Crazy Gingerbread, Festive Luchador, and more
  • Three Christmas-themed car horns
  • Christmas trees at Legion Square and all-owned apartments, stilt houses, and yachts

As mentioned, the update will also include all festive attires of past years, even the original Holiday Gifts from 2013. These will be downloadable throughout the holidays.

In addition, Rockstar has also teased some special gifts that are meant to surprise players during the holidays. These include the rare snowfall so players can play snowball fights. Rockstar will also be adding some special things to the Adversary Modes to be available on all platforms.

Aside from the festive update, Rockstar Games is also holding a photo contest. The #FestiveSurprise2015 Snapmatic Photo Challenge runs on the same dates as the availability of the festive update. To participate, those interested need to post their best holiday-themed Snapmatic to Social Club with the hashtag "#FestiveSurprise2015." Five of these will receive GTA$1M award.

Rockstar will also be holding its second annual "GTA Online" holiday party livestream on Twitch or YouTube Gaming. The party is scheduled on Dec. 22 at 5 p.m. ET.

The "GTA Online" festive update is available to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players. The free update went live on Monday, Dec. 21, and will last through the New Year on Jan. 5, 2016.
