'GTA V' MOD Takes Players on Deserted Ghost Town Exploration (VIDEO)

A new mod for "Grand Theft Auto V" allows players to explore the ghost town of North Yankton that isn't part of the game's scripted sequence.

A deserted town named North Yankton appears in one of the new mods for Rockstar Games' "Grand Theft Auto V," taking players to an abandoned former community covered in snow ripe for exploration.

The ghost town was initially discovered in December 2013, where online players came upon a glitch in the game that brought them to North Yankton.

Players can access the mod, named "NATIVETRAINER – NORTH YANKTON EXT," on a French website, gtamodding.fr, that had been set up exclusively to modify Rockstar's open world action adventure video game series.

The mod allows players to return to North Yankton and explore the area without worrying about having cops on their tail.

A YouTube user, taltigolt has posted a tour of the snowy town on his account, showing a chimpanzee getting into a utility vehicle and following a dirt road surrounded by a barren landscape in what appears to be a rural town dotted by farms and barns with a railroad track running across the road to the abandoned community.

Rockstar has recently launched "Grand Theft Auto V" for PC last April 14, after having been released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Tthe latest installment in the series brought on controversy after scenes of torture initiated by players appeared, showing graphic depictions of electrocution, waterboarding, dental extraction and kneecapping, activities which were necessary for players to progress in the game.

The torture scenes caused the game to be publicly condemned by human rights charities, and has been accused of sexism, as well, for portraying women in violent and sexist scenes.
