'Guacamelee 2' Gameplay, Release Date News: Sequel Revealed at Paris Games Week
Sony is releasing "Guacamelee 2" for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) sometime in 2018. The video gaming giant confirmed the title during its showcase at the Paris Games Week last Monday.
"Guacamelee 2" comes over seven years after DrinkBox Studios developed the first game. The reportedly sequel retained much of the gameplay and visuals as the original.
Some new features and specs, however, will set "Guacamelee 2" apart from the first release. For one thing, the new version has 4K and HDR support for owners of the PS4 Pro.

The sequel's gameplay also introduces a new ability dubbed as the Chicken Shot, which lets players transform into a chicken with an ability to dash and evade during combat. "Guacamelee 2" even adds a four-player support as hinted in the newly-released teaser.
Sony and DrinkBox, however, have yet to confirm the exact release date for "Guacamelee 2" on the PS4. The companies also did not announce whether the game will be out on the PlayStation Vita as with the first installment.
"We're currently completely focused on the PS4/PS4 Pro versions of 'Guacamelee 2' and aren't announcing any other platforms at this time," DrinkBox co-founder Graham Smith told Destructoid.
This doesn't mean, however, that "Guacamelee 2" will be a PS4 exclusive release. The first version did not arrive in other platforms like the PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, Wii U and PS4 until nearly a year and a half months of its PS3 release.
"Guacamelee" has players controlling a wrestler or luchador named Juan as he fights and explores an open world that also includes the dead. Juan has different abilities that gamers can hone while leveling up.
During Juan's explorations, gamers can collect coins to use for ability upgrades to defeat more powerful enemies. "Guacamelee" also carries a central story to the character apart from Juan defeating the bosses.
