'Guardians of The Galaxy' TV Series News: Video Clip Highlight's Gamora's Origins
The short clips for the highly-anticipated animated TV series event from Marvel, the "Guardians of the Galaxy," features the origin story of the team's only girl member.
The past few weeks saw the parts for Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket and Drax. Completing the series is Gamora's whose fans of the James Gunn movie may have already known to be the adopted daughter of Thanos. The movie did reveal that the powerful, intergalactic entity had murdered her whole race, an act that forced Gamora to betray him.
The animated short however, adds more detail to the biography of the character as well as divulged her deeper reasons for defecting her father's cause.
Citing the report from Slashfilm.com, it was noted that the upcoming animated TV series won't exactly be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the shorts did somehow offer a glimpse of each of the character's past. An interesting aspect to consider, but these origin stories of the Guardians are "not technically MCU canon," the site wrote.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" features the voice acts of Will Friedle (as Star-Lord), Trevor Devall (as Rocket), Kevin Michael Richardson (Groot), Vanessa Marshall (Gamora), David Sobolov (Drax the Destroyer), and James Arnold Taylor (Yondu).
The official synopsis released by Marvel (via /Film) said that the show will follow the adventures of a newly-formed band who comes in contact with a strange artifact keyed only to the DNA of one of its members, Peter Quill. It was discovered that the artifact holds a treasure map which could lead them to a powerful weapon known as the Cosmic Seed – a thing that is capable of "giving birth to the next universe."
"It's up to the Guardians to find, protect and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed in order to keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse its power, from galactic big boss Thanos, to the conniving brothers the Collector and the Grandmaster, to a resurrected Ronan, to the ultimate trickster, Loki, in order to save the universe."
Disney XD let viewers take a sneak peek at the "Guardians of the Galaxy's" first episode last September 5. The show premieres on DisneyXD on September 26. Stay tuned for more updates.
