'Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2' News: Possible Sibling Rivalry Between Gamora and Nebula
James Gunn's sequel to "Guardians of the Galaxy" is totally on the way and fans aren't the only ones excited for the movie as actress Karen Gillan shared her insights about the upcoming movie with a teaser that will only make fans the more crazy.
In a short interview with Comic Book Resources, Gillan talked about her anticipated return to the "Guardians" family as a much improved villain as she is said to be "meaner" and "more murderous" than the Nebula she portrayed in the first installment.
When asked what specific part of the movie she is looking forward to, she said, "What I'm really excited about is delving into the sisterly relationship between Gamora and Nebula...it's going to be more fleshed out."
While there are so many possibilities about Gillan's statements that fans will see more of the sisterhood in the sequel, some outlets suggest that the rivalry between the two will only get more intense.
This is an interesting plot, if the theory turns out to be true since the two have been raised as killers and fighters. While Gamora has started to see a future in the "good," the first movie seemed to reveal that Nebula most likely returned home to be with their father.
With Gamora slowly changing into a softer, milder, and kinder fighter, it would be a hit to see the sisters confronting each other in what could be one of the most epic sister battles of all time in the history of Marvel. This is because, according to Bustle, Nebula and Gamora are even "darker and deadlier" than Thor and Loki.
Another thing that will make the sibling rivalry more interesting is that they are women, and in the Marvel universe, there is not too many friendly bonds between sisters or close friends. If Gunn decides to create a bout between the two and then end the battle with a reconciliation, it would be opening doors for a trend in the Marvel world to allow for female friendships and familial bonds.
"Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" is slated for release on May 5, 2017.
