'Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2' News: No Collections in Sequel?

Some sad and really unfortunate news is on the way for fans who loved The Collector from "Guardians of the Galaxy" as it has recently been reported that the iconic and widely favored hoarder won't be included in the cast for the sequel.

Coming Soon caught up with Benicio del Toro and asked him about a role in "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2," to which the actor responded, "I don't think so. They would have told me, I hope...I do hope to play that character again at some point."

For many who loved his performance, the news is a huge disappointment. If the Infinity Stones will be featured in the upcoming movie, there is a good chance director James Gunn will create a spot to put him in the script. After all, one of the stones should still be under his care, meaning he will need to be included in at least one more Marvel movie.

Cinema Blend also noted that The Collector's absence in the movie won't affect the story line since from what Gunn and the rest of the cast have dished so far, the sequel won't be dwelling too much on the Infinity Stones.

While fans are still fuming over the sad news and del Toro is obviously upset about not being involved in "Guardians 2," the actor has been given a mystery role in "Star Wars: Episode VIII," which is also another franchise that the masses love. Even without "Guardians," del Toro is safe for the next few years.

Meanwhile, the rest of the cast members have been confirmed to reprise their roles in the upcoming movie. Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel are all coming back for the sequel, with other actors such as Kurt Russell being rumored to join the cast.

Russell has been in the news lately after he confirmed that he received a call from the director for a role in the much-awaited film. It is unclear what character he will take on, but rumor has it that he will be playing Star-Lord's father — a role that has been the topic of debates recently due to the many mysteries it is linked to.

"Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" is slated for release on May 5, 2017.
