Gwen Stefani on No Doubt's Delayed Album: 'It's Mainly My Fault'
Gwen Stefani, lead singer for the pop-rock group No Doubt, has been making what appears to be a comeback tour. The singer told fans the reason the group has not done another tour since 2004 was "mainly her fault."
No Doubt was a sensation when it premiered in 1992, but it wasn't until it released its second album "Tragic Kingdom," that the group finally found its true following. Stefani's performance on "Just a Girl" and "Don't Speak" launched No Doubt into the stratosphere and solidified Stefani's place in the genre.
The group toured until 2004, before separating to allow band members the opportunity to work on their own projects. Stefani debuted her own solo album, which featured the feminist anthem, "Hollaback Girl," before releasing her other hit album, "The Sweet Escape."
Now No Doubt is reuniting to promote their latest album, "Push and Shove." Stefani spoke with the United Kingdom's TV series, "Lorraine" and explained her absence from the group.
"It's hard to schedule it," she said of No Doubt's busy schedule. "We're actually ahead of schedule-lots of babies made, lots of stuff that we've done… I think it was mainly my fault!"
Fellow No Doubt member Tony Kanal supported Stefani's explanation and agreed that it was incredibly difficult to get everyone back together.
"On this record we had three days where we could all get together. We'd spend the first couple of hours literally just ordering food, talking and catching up and then listening to music and getting inspired. It was a very social way of making an album," Kanal explained.
Stefani has been busy outside of the music genre as well, having married singer Gavin Rossdale in 2002 and having two sons. She is also the founder of the fashion line L.A.M.B. and is a spokeswoman for L'Oreal Paris.
"Push and Shove," the latest from No Doubt, will drop on Sept. 25.
