'Half Life 3' Release Date: Still Unconfirmed, Fan Project Continues Story
It's been a decade since the last version of "Half Life" was released and until now, fans of the first-person shooter game are wondering when "Half Life 3" is going to happen — or if it will ever happen.
The release of "Half Life 3" may not be coming anytime soon, according to a YouTube channel called The Know. After speculation of the game being well in the development stage and the game's story, script and events already allegedly laid out, it looks like such information remains hearsay.
A source told The Know that the developers of the game, Valve Corporation, may no longer be interested in releasing a third installment. Even so, the game is allegedly being manned by only 10 people, which would explain its delayed completion.

Master Herald reported two major reasons why Valve is in no in a hurry to release its debut product. First, the company is already making lots of profit from its multiplayer video games like "Dota 2," "Counterstrike," and other games on its own gaming platform Steam. Second, the game developer believes that multiplayer games have better returns on their investmentwhen compared to single-player games.
But while the wait continues, game enthusiasts can at least anticipate the coming of "Lost Squad," a fan-made Source Engine RPG based on the established story of "Half Life 2." Through this game, players can experience a viewpoint beyond Gordon Freeman's.
The project takes place during 2007's "Half Life 2: Episode 2" when Freeman's partner in crime, Barney Calhoun, isn't present in the chapter at all. The game will allow fans to look at familiar events through the eyes of Calhoun. The project is still in development but it is said to feature a full co-op mode, new creatures and more.
