'Half Life 3' Release Date & Update: Game Heading to Virtual Reality Platform?
The waiting for the third installment of the first-person shooter video game "Half Life" continues on. Fans who have been on the constant lookout for the "Half Life 3" are still wondering when the game might possibly arrive. According to a report by Yibada, the future of the game is unclear. It has been more than a decade already since the last one, "Half Life 2," which was released back in 2004.
Until now, there is still no confirmation from its developer Valve if it will ever happen or not. Loyal fans do not lose hope though despite the many reports saying that the game has been cancelled. In a report by website The REM, it stated that there are many surrounding reasons already as to why the game is now considered dead. One of the reasons is the departure of game designer Marc Laidlaw. The source cited that Laidlaw has been the driving force of the game series and has been in charge of the biggest updates and upgrades.
The News Independent also detailed that another reason is the Valve CEO himself, Gabe Newell, has lost the enthusiasm for a "Half Life 3" game. Some reports also say that instead of a game, perhaps fans will just get a movie instead. JJ Abrams has been linked to working with Valve for the development of a film based on the "Half Life" series.
