Halle Berry Engaged, Finally Confirmed

Halle Berry has finally spoken out about her engagement to French actor Olivier Martinez this week.

During a past interview in 2007 after her failed marriages, Berry vowed that she would "never, never get married again," while speaking to InStyle magazine.

The actress confirmed the upcoming nuptials, adding that when she found herself agreeing to marry again, she was surprised.

"Who knew [I'd get engaged again]?" the 45-year-old told "Extra" during a red-carpet interview. "I swore it off, right?"

Berry has been married twice before, and has divorced former baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet. It will be Martinez's first marriage.

"Well, 'never say never' people," she added, laughing.

Her fiancée confirmed the engagement earlier this year. While in South Beach promoting his new restaurant Villa Azur, Martinez cleared up the rumors.

"Yes, of course it's true," said the actor, who also debunked a jeweler who claimed he had designed Berry's emerald engagement ring.

"There is a jeweler taking credit for doing the ring and it's a lie," continued Martinez, reported the Miami Herald. "They have nothing to do with us."

Berry's ring was instead designed by Parisian jeweler Robert Mazlo, based in Saint-Germain-de-Pres. Martinez noted that the Mazlo jewelers have been designing jewelry for "kings and queens for many centuries."

Martinez and Berry have been dating since 2010 when they worked together on the film "Dark Tide," which is scheduled for release this year.

Berry has a daughter, Nahla, 4, with French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, with whom she is recently engaged in a vicious legal battle over custody of the child.

Aubry has reportedly asked the actress for over $15,000 a month in child support. Also, he requested a "very large" clothing allowance for Nahla, as well as funds to take her to Canada to visit his family, according to TMZ.

Berry won an Oscar for best actress for her role in 2001's "Monster's Ball."
