'Hannibal' Season 3 Spoilers: Time Jump and Surviving Characters Featured in New Season

"Hannibal" show creator Bryan Fuller revealed a lot more than expected for the show's upcoming season at the recent Comic-Con in San Diego. He hinted that past characters who died, or survived, will be returning, and he also revealed what will be the entire focus of season three.

Fuller disclosed what happens next after the gruesome season two finale. After Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) attacked Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne), he was able to find time to slash the throats of Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Abigail Hobbs (Kacey Rohl), while Dr. Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) was pushed out of a window.

The show runner disclosed that there will be a one-year time jump after the events of the season 2 final episode. He also revealed that Dr. Frederick Chilton (Raul Esperza), Dr. Abel Gideon (Eddie Izzard) and Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) are all expected to make appearances on season 3. Fishburne has already confirmed that he will be returning to the show.

Fuller also said that the episodes in season 3 will be filled with the search, hunt and capture of Hannibal, so the "murder of the week" episodes format would be gone.

The executive producer also has a plan to incorporate plots from "Hannibal," "Hannibal Rising" and "Red Dragon." As for the character of Clarice Starling being featured on the show, Fuller pointed out that since MGM still has the rights to all of the "Silence of the Lambs" characters, this might not be possible as of the moment, yet he and the other show executives are willing to go to court so that they could eventually use the characters for the upcoming seasons.

"Hannibal" is slated to premiere its third season in the first half of 2015.
