'Hannibal' Season 4 News: Series Creator Bryan Fuller Hints at 'Great Idea' For Show's Possible Return
"Hannibal" is one step closer to a small-screen comeback.
Although "Hannibal" was canceled in 2015, series creator Bryan Fuller has not given up on the possibility of a fourth season for the crime drama. Fuller recently talked about the series and he may have put a season 4 back on the table.
While speaking on the Post Mortem with Mick Garris podcast, the series creator said he has a "great idea" about where the plot could go next.

"There's an interesting next chapter in the relationship between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter that would be fascinating to unpack," he stated, adding lead stars Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen are both interested in the storyline.
Additionally, Fuller confirmed that he has plans to focus on Margot Verger (Katie Isabelle) — who's in control of the Verger meat packing industry — and make her a more empowered woman. "That would definitely be marbled through the season, Margot Verger taking down the meat industry as a hot, powerful lesbian," he continued.
"Hannibal" has yet to be picked up for another season, but Fuller revealed that he has discussed the show's possible return with executive producer Martha De Laurentiis. He mentioned that Dancy and Mikkelsen are "excited" about season 4, but there are a lot of obstacles to get through before the series could return.
To date, the rights to the story are still under the ownership of the producers for "Silence of the Lambs." They revert in August, which gives Fuller a good opportunity to revive the show.
Reportedly, Fuller previously mentioned that he had discussions with De Laurentiis about bringing in elements of "Silence of the Lambs" for the next installment. Similar to how "Bates Motel" wrapped up, Fuller plans to complete the show's narrative circle by incorporating elements from its source material.
Fuller is currently working on Starz's rookie fantasy drama "American Gods" as showrunner.
