Harrison Ford News: Actor Explains Why He Wanted Han Solo Killed

There is good news for Harrison Ford fans: "Star Wars'" Han Solo is doing another Lucasfilm and Disney movie. There is bad news for "Star Wars" fans, though: Ford is not reprising his already Han Solo character for another "Star Wars" movie. Instead, he'll work on a new film featuring another beloved character, Indiana Jones.

In Entertainment Weekly's Tumblr, Ford answered the questions thrown at him by fans. When asked by a certain user hiding behind the name SXRYA what he thinks about his Han Solo character getting killed in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," he answered that it was something that he had longed for.

"I think it's a fitting use of the character… I've been arguing for Han Solo to die for about 30 years, not because I was tired of him or because he's boring, but his sacrifice for the other characters would lend gravitas and emotional weight," Ford wrote in reply to the question.

Now that his character in the "Star Wars" movies has finally been killed off after three decades, Ford can keep himself busy with other things. As the actor is also known for his carpentry passion, one Tumblr user asked him what particular carpentry job he prefers, to which he replied, most probably in a jest, that he has a door that needs to be rehung.

As he needs to work on "Indiana Jones 5," it goes without saying that Ford can keep himself busy apart from tinkering his household fixtures with his carpentry tools. Without question, life goes on for Ford even if Han Solo has died.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Lucasfilm and Disney are yet to pick the actor who will don Han Solo's iconic vest, navy blue pants, and big black boots for the "Star Wars" spinoff that will focus on the life of a young Han Solo. From an initial list of 2500, it is said that the production is now closer to picking the lucky actor to take on the young Han Solo's mantle as the choices have been narrowed down to five, with Alden Ehrenreich, Taron Egerton, Blake Jenner, Jack Reynor, and finally Emory Cohen vying for the role.
