Harvest Celebrates 15th Year at Southern California Event
One-day event sees over 51,000 attendants, and 3,428 decisions for Christ
A large-scale evangelistic event held over this past weekend saw over 51,000 in attendance, and over 3,400 decisions for Christ. On July 10, the Southern California Harvest, held at Anaheims Angel Stadium gathered people from across southern California for a day and night of Worship, Gods message, and a display of Extreme Sports.
Celebrating its 15th year in the Southland, Harvest Crusades with Greg Laurie returned to Southern California to combine best of elements from previous Harvest Crusade programs such as the Summerfest and A Night of Worship. The youth-geared Summerfest, which made its second appearance, featured Extreme sports such as BMX and Vert Skate, a SportsZone and KidsZone, and pro-athletes Jimmie McGuire, Dave Demangos, Thad Miller, Lance Mountain, and Chad Kagy. Summerfest music featured Tree 63, Skillet, The Elms, and By the Tree.
The evening A Night of Worship program featured a message from Riverside, California pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie, and music from UK-based worship leader Matt Redman, Dove Award-winner Fernando Ortega, singer/songwriter Tommy Walker, and the 1,000 Voice Choir.
The program was broadcasted live on the Internet and interpreted and translated into Spanish, Korean, Arabic, Vietnamese, and sign language. The web cast for the Summerfest and the Night of Worship can be found at the Harvest Website (www.harvest.org).
Since 1990, Harvest Crusades has drawn more than three million people to stadiums and arenas in the US, Australia, and New Zealand. Greg Laurie, who founded the evangelistic Harvest Crusade events in 1990, also serves as senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, one of the 15 largest churches in the US.
The other most recent Harvest Crusade event, held in Honolulu, Hawaii, June 24-27 drew 21,700 attendants and saw 1,161 decisions for Christ.
