Has Fight to End Global Warming Ended Lives Instead?
Christians argue over the effectiveness and affect of Global Warming efforts
Katharine Hayhoe, a leading climatologist and Evangelical has reached out to the Christian community in an attempt to increase awareness of global warming.
She has stated, “It is high time Christians remove their heads from the sand and take a good look at what's happening to the planet that God has given us.”
However some Christians believe that the movement is a false religion.

According to National Geographic, average temperatures have increased 1.4 degrees since the 1980’s. Evidence has revealed that this shift has affected much of the globe. Melted Arctic ices have created a population of endangered polar bears, water temperatures have forced corals to die off, and climate change has been attributed to the increased amount of extreme weather.
Hayhoe argues that, “Acknowledging the reality of climate change doesn't mean climbing into bed with a liberal agenda.”
It is a common liberal view that humans have largely contributed to the temperature shift.
In communications with the Founder and National Spokesman, E. Calvin Beisner, Ph.D., he revealed that “the work of 29 theologians, scientists, and environmental economists… all show that human contribution to global warming is very slight compared with natural, cyclical causes.
He is concerned that the attempt to prevent global warming has made little impact and instead has harmed those affected by prevention methods. He has opposed the move to replace conventional energy sources with greener options stating: “Already America’s biofuel policy causes about 192,000 excess premature deaths every year in developing countries by forcing up world grain prices.”
People in economically developing countries have been shown to spend almost half of their income on food. Corn futures reportedly doubled from $3.50 a bushel in 2010 to $7 a bushel in 2011 according to Natural News, which was partially induced by increased demand for biofuels.
Hayhoe still argues that “climate change is a consequence of poor decisions that God has allowed us to make.”
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded in their Fourth Assessment Report: “There's a more than 90 percent probability that human activities over the past 250 years have warmed our planet.”
Others refer to scientists like Katharine Hayhoe, who support that humans are contributing to global warming, as “alarmist.” Past journalist Paul MacRae states, “Over the past decade alarmist climate scientists-including the top figures in the field-have been deliberately misleading the public on many climate issues.”
