Heather Dubrow Denies 'Spreading Idle Gossip' About Gretchen Rossi
Heather Dubrow recently defended her decision to discuss a controversy involving co-star Gretchen Rossi, with their fellow cast members and insists she was not being malicious.
During a recent episode viewers watched as Rossi, 34, was branded a liar by her co-stars after claiming she was offered a part on Dubrow's new TV sitcom "Malibu Country." Dubrow approached each of her co-stars, with the exception of Rossi, about the reality TV star's claims after producers allegedly denied offering her a part on the show.
"I was so excited to tell the girls about getting offered a guest starring role on Malibu Country. I didn't originally intend to tell the girls what I had learned about Gretchen. However, when Tamra asked me, I told her what happened," Dubrow wrote via her Bravo TV blog.
Rossi, who maintains that she too was offered a role on the show, was admittedly hurt after her co-stars suggested she was being dishonest about the gig. Dubrow, who some viewers slammed for being "catty," maintains that her intent was not to be nasty but simply to shed light on the truth.
"If you are wondering why I chose to share this information, I was annoyed on Tamra's behalf. There is a difference between discussing an incident that happened among friends and spreading idle gossip that you are a third party to and whose only purpose is meant to offend," Dubrow explained. adding "Gretchen was never 'offered' anything and that small part ended up getting written out of the show. The role I was offered was entirely different."
Rossi, who was previously accused of lying about a similar situation by co-star Alexis Bellino, openly questioned Dubrow's actions and described her behavior as "unprofessional."
"I personally would have never gone to an audition or table read and then discussed something Heather told me with the producers. Quite frankly I think it was unprofessional and inappropriate, and I felt it was done behind my back," Rossi wrote in her own blog.
"If she got information from producers that were different from casting and my agent then she should have come to me to discuss it or at least allowed me to defend myself or give my point of view in front of all the ladies," she continued.
Still, Dubrow maintains that she did not have any ill intent when she approached the TV show's producers about Rossi. The mother of four also accused Rossi of using the alleged TV gig to try and persuade co-star Tamra Barney to disinvite Bellino to a group outing.
"I only asked the casting director about Gretchen because I was excited for her. She wanted to get into this business and I thought maybe we would be working together," Dubrow wrote.
"Let this be said. I am not a competitive person -- I truly believe there is room for everyone. I don't however condone using getting "offered a role" as a way of having Tamra disinvite Alexis to dress shopping," she went on adding "Calling to check one's availability for a few lines on sitcom and being offered a guest starring role are two different things."
