Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt on Losing Money: 'We Thought We Were Jay Z and Beyonce'
At one point in their lives, reality TV stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt had everything going for them: fame, money, and youth. However, they have now realized that none of those things matter and are focused on living a much simpler life.
"We were immature and we got caught up," Pratt told In Touch Weekly. "Every time we'd go out to eat, we'd order $4,000 bottles of wine. Heidi was going to the mall and dropping $20,000 to $30,000 a day. We thought we were Jay Z and Beyonce."
The two found fame on MTV's series "The Hills" and went on to live it up in the limelight as much as possible. In 2009, after the series ended, they made appearances on "I'm a Celebrity… Get me Out of Here!" And in 2011, they competed as a team on the British version of "Celebrity Big Brother."
Montag and Pratt have been fairly open about their lives; Montag revealed that she had had 10 cosmetic procedures in one day. Now, though, she is working to get back to a more normal appearance and had her breast implants, which were size F-cup, reduced to a C-cup. Overall, she estimates that she spent $250,000 on surgical procedures, which is perhaps one of the factors in the couple's troubled financial situation.
"I would definitely advise against it," Montag told Life & Style when asked what she would tell her daughter if asked about plastic surgery. "And hopefully I'd raise her in a way that she doesn't feel the pressure or need."
She also opened up about starring on "The Hills" and the aftermath of that appearance, which she says "took a toll on my soul. I'm thankful not to have to fake fights anymore!"
The most famous fights took place between Montag and former friend and co-star Lauren Conrad, whom she says she has talked to a few times since "The Hills" ended.
Montag and Pratt will star in the upcoming E! special "After Shock: Heidi & Spencer," which airs on Monday, Dec. 9.
